World Famous
So, I've been thinking about the little ClustrMap in the sidebar. I found this fun little thing on Zygote Daddy's blog, and thought it would be cool to see where people are coming from when they visit my humble blog.
I recently had the pleasure of seeing that I had penetrated every continent (excepting Antarctica-- I somehow doubt anyone at McMurdo Station is interested in toddlers)--thank you Brazil! Thank you Egypt! And some unlikely places: Sicily, Iran, Guatemala....
One problem I have with the ClustrMap is that the resolution is pretty bad. It's hard to tell where some of those dots are: Is that someone from Iran or Oman? Hong Kong or Guangzhou?
And then I wonder about some of those unlikely places...are the hits from countries like Iran or China caused by trolling internet censors? Or are there people interested in Waldorf education or something else I chose to write about?

I like seeing where my visitors come from and wondering what brought them to me, particularly the visits from places like Bulgaria and Bangladesh. The last had me bamboozled until I installed a stats package and could see what post they were landing on -- who would have thought that a very brief rant on toilet etiquette would attract so much attention.
It is both a very good, and very odd, feeling to know that your words reach so many parts of the globe, isn't it?
Does China even allow Tibetans internet access??
Kerryn: I'm curious about all the fun things I see on WordPress blogs...I think the stat functions are better than Blogger. Still contemplating transferring over there.
The stats functions are definitely better although I do use sitemeter in conjunction with the bundled stats (what can I say? Much of my working life has been interpretation of stats). I started out on blogger and lasted only two weeks before I swapped to wordpress. There's less freedom to play with the template in wp but I haven't found that to be a disadvantage.
I'd suggest creating an account and having a play with what wordpress offers -- it costs nothing to sign up and will give you an idea about whether wp will be for you.
